Questions about preceptor pay

What preceptors ask us most. Anything else, our team answers.

How much do preceptors earn?
You earn for the hours you precept, at a rate you set within our network’s range for your specialty. Your year comes down to your rate, the hours you precept and the students you take on. How preceptor pay works
How is my rate set?
You set it within our network’s range for your specialty, and you see the pay for every student before you accept.
How long is a block of hours?
It follows your student’s program, so it varies from course to course, and it is set out before you accept.
Can I set different rates in person and virtually?
Yes. You set a rate for each, within our range.
Where do I add my payout method?
In your portal, under payout: Zelle or a bank account. Every payment shows there with its receipt.
How is preceptor income reported?
Usually as independent contractor income. For payments from 2026, a payer files a Form 1099-NEC when it pays you $2,000 or more in a year. Preceptor income and taxes
